Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.” My thoughts were first drawn towards his use of the word “devout”. When I hear that word, I think of consistency, passion, and resilience. I’ve learned that our gratitude towards people ebbs and flows like a stream. In good times and times of kindness, we are extremely grateful for those we are close to. However, when hard times come upon us or arguments arise – we often lose that sense of gratitude towards those we love.
Let us always appreciate our friends, whether we see them often or rarely. Gratitude and love always has a way of circling back around.
